This story, by Darryl Fears, published by the WASHINGTON POST on Jan. 17th, conveys that a brewing dispute over the great magnitude of 2015’s wildfire season is splitting some environmental groups from both (a) the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and (b) other environmental groups — the latter, those that side with USDA and support more active forest management to reduce the wildfire threat. Doubting green groups, says the article, see USDA’s claims about the great size of 2015’s fire year as mere propaganda and a scare tactic.  Controversy of wildfire’s actual extent in recent U.S. history, it appears, now joins all the other disputes over empirical facts that populate the nation’s great debate over forest management reform, wildfire, and the health and safety of rural communities in or near federal forested lands.  (Read at source.)
