OP-ED: How politics hurts Montana’s wildland firefighters

The political heat can be expected to build up again this coming year for transferring wildland firefighting’s cost burden away from the U.S. Forest Service and to FEMA’s budget.  RAVALLI REPUBLIC, out of Hamilton, MT, published, on Jan. 26th, a vigorous essay making that just that case.  Sometime firefighter and student of fire management, Allison Linville, also relays to us of how last year’s Wildfire Disaster Funding Act became hostage to larger forest management reform aspirations in Congress.  (Read at source.)
