Attitudes among Idaho’s citizens, reports this poll, divide up along political party lines. “When it comes to lands issues,” wrote Nathan Brown, the newspaper report’s author, “48 percent of those polled favor continued federal control, 42 percent want state control and 11 percent were undecided. The divides here followed partisan lines — Republicans want state control by 51-39, independents oppose it 43-47 and Democrats are against it 19-72.”  Brown’s article appeared in MAGICVALLEY.COM on Feb. 8th.  Idaho’s Democrats — and I’m one of them, BTW — do not appear to have been keeping up on their reading of Robert H. Nelson’s work, including his excellent 2012 essay, “Our Beleaguered Public Lands.”
