Vilsack sees fight with Congress brewing over funding wildfire fighting

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack says he won’t borrow internally this coming fire season; says he’ll go to Congress instead.  President’s budget allows for FEMA dollars for fighting wildfire; but the budget’s new fiscal year begins on Oct. 1st, too late to help out with the upcoming fire season.  These observations, and more, are offered in this good overview article, of the U.S. Forest Service’s budget situation respecting 2016’s firefighting obligations.  The article was authored by Kurtis Alexander and published at SF GATE (the S.F.
